Ingredients
To make this delicious angel food cake, you will need:
- 1 1/2 cups sifted cake flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups superfine sugar
- 1 1/2 cups egg whites (about 10 to 12 eggs)
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
Instructions
To make the angel food cake, preheat the oven to 375°F. Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan. Sift the cake flour and salt together four times. In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until foamy. Add the cream of tartar, sugar, and extracts, and beat until stiff peaks form. Gently fold in the sifted flour mixture. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool the cake in the pan for at least an hour before turning it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
