Chocolate Pudding Cake

Ingredients and Preparation

This delicious Chocolate Pudding Cake can be made with only a few ingredients. You will need 1/2 cup butter, 1 cup white sugar, 2 eggs, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 teaspoon almond extract, 1/2 cup chopped almonds and 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips.

To prepare the cake, preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour an 8-inch round cake pan.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time with vanilla extract, then stir in the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt. Gradually stir in the milk, almond extract, almonds, and chocolate chips.

Pour the batter into the prepared pan, and bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

The Magic Moment

This is the moment when you have to work your magic. Once the cake is done baking, remove it from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes. Then, in a medium bowl, mix together 3/4 cup white sugar, 3 tablespoons cornstarch, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Slowly add 1 3/4 cup water, stirring until the mixture is smooth.

Pour the sugar mixture over the top of the cake, making sure to spread it evenly. Return the cake to the oven and bake for an additional 30 minutes.

The Finishing Touch
